I started J&J Construction because I saw that very unprofessional, inadequate “companies” were servicing the remodeling business, specifically deck construction. Truth be told, they were not actual companies, but small operations operated by ex-carpenters who had no concept of how to run a business. Projects started late and sat for days and weeks with no progress. Then finally, they would rush to finish. Even worse, through the whole ordeal, it was impossible to reach a live person to discuss the job.

To give homeowners a professional choice, I entered the deck business part-time in 1992. Then something very strange happened. I began examining other remodeling areas, including basement finishing, screen porches, three-season rooms, additions, and sunrooms. I found the same problem that was plaguing the deck business: unprofessionalism. I couldn’t believe that homeowners would spend tens of thousands of dollars with firms that quite frankly, were not qualified to mow their lawn. I made a life changing decision. I quit my engineering job and entered the home remodeling business full-time. The rest, as they say, is history.

J&J Construction has grown from a small one-man firm to one of the area’s largest, and certainly best, remodeling companies. How have we done this? By consistently implementing processes to complete your project on time, on budget, and, most importantly, completed to the level of quality you were promised. We know that anyone can build you a sunroom. We feel that the sunroom is really only part of the equation. The real challenge is producing that sunroom in the way you hoped:

  • Open communication between you and the contractor
  • Real start and finish dates
  • As little intrusion into your family life as possible
  • No excuses, just solutions

That’s what we do. We show you that not all companies are the same. We are better…period. We honestly feel (as do the people we do work for) that if you are going to spend your hard- earned money on a remodeling project, you should choose a company who can provide the entire package: design, coordination, management, construction, completion, follow-up, and service. Plenty of companies can handle the “construction” part, but don’t you want ALL the parts?

To obtain the results that the customers expected, I first addressed the issue of ethics. I committed to treating everyone in my business sphere with respect and dignity. I further committed to dealing only with subcontractors and suppliers who could embrace the same high standards as my company. I made sure that the customer’s needs were clearly identified from the outset, and ultimately met. I prepared suppliers, subcontractors, employees, and homeowners for what I expected throughout the remodeling process.

How is all this possible? By implementing management controls, the construction process all flows perfectly. This system, trademarked by J&J Construction, is called the S.U.C.C.E.S.S.™ process. S.U.C.C.E.S.S.™ stands for a “System Using Checklists and Controls to Eliminate Stress & Surprises.” It is a code of work quality and conduct for everyone who works with and for J&J Construction. I demand that people do what they say they’re going to do, such as completing the job in a timely manner, controlling costs, and offering the highest-quality workmanship through efficient management systems. Our S.U.C.C.E.S.S.™ system ensures this.

The S.U.C.C.E.S.S.™ process is a systemized procedure that produces a repeatable, predictable result. Our countless checklists and controls monitor every step of your remodeling project. It allows our team to oversee every building detail through each stage of construction.

It is my belief that taking an ethical approach to remodeling a home will inevitably produce trust, confidence, and satisfaction. It creates something extraordinary, which will leave the homeowner frustration free throughout the entire process. We would never be able to accomplish this without using our S.U.C.C.E.S.S.™ process.

All of this has led to the mission statement found below that is followed by every member of our team:
