One of the greatest compliments we receive is when a client returns to us years later with a request for an additional home project. The J&J Construction team puts in a lot of effort to make sure that clients are thrilled with their end result, and a repeat client is evidence that we are succeeding.
This Aurora family came to us with a desire to improve their outdoor space by building a covered patio. The covered patio has allowed this family to offer outdoor entertaining space for guests as well as enjoying quiet time spent in the open air.
While a screened porch offers a nice way to enjoy the outdoors in any type of weather, a covered patio does shield from most of the elements while creating an open concept addition to any home. Without a separation with walls, children can play in the backyard in clear view of their parents sitting and relaxing.
This patio addition has added tremendous value to the home. An outdoor space adds additional square footage, which typically equals a high ROI. Patios are a sought-after amenity, making it a renovation or addition worth considering. Homeowners will enjoy the space while feeling confident that if and when they decide to sell, it will offer added value.
This covered patio doesn’t take up too much space in the backyard, but really provides a comfortable outdoor room. Adding recessed canned lighting to the roof structure was a way to ensure homeowners could enjoy this space even after the sun goes down in addition to providing ambience in the evening.
Cedar siding, fascia, and trim were installed and painted to match the existing exterior, and cedar tongue and groove lines the ceiling. While cedar is a softwood, it is suitable for both indoor and outdoor usage. In addition, cedar is insect resistant, has a recognizable, pleasing scent, and ultimately is aesthetically attractive.
The natural cedar color adds to the warm, outdoor oasis vibe here. Roofing shingles were matched with the existing shingles for a seamless look.
The homeowners provided the ceiling fan to circulate air, cool the space on warm Summer days, and provide a finishing design touch to this warm space. All that’s left for them to do now is grab a few drinks, settle into the comfortable, low-profile couch, and relax with the outdoors as their backdrop.
Covered patios blend the comfort of an indoor space, with the laid-back atmosphere of outdoor living, making it a great addition to your home. The opportunities for your covered patio are endless.
