At first glance, it would seem that the unique ceiling lines of this Aurora, IL hall bathroom could make remodeling difficult. The existing tub-shower combination was tucked under a slanted ceiling. The room’s layout was long, and it was hard to imagine options for a remodel.
After going over the possibilities with the J&J team, the homeowners were ready to start the big transformation. Read on for all the details that went into this update – and how we were able to achieve this soothing look.
The new center of the room is the transformed shower! After removing the old tub, there was plenty of room for a spacious new shower. We added some great new features, including a convenient shower bench covered with HanStone Italian Waves Quartz. This durable choice also tops the half wall between the shower and toilet.
Another popular bath update keeps bath spaces neat and uncluttered. Wall niches allow guests to tuck their shampoos and soaps neatly away in two separate compartments.
Using Eon Carrara Matte tiles, we finished out the three shower walls, ceiling, and floor. This subtly patterned choice provides all the beauty of stone in a strong, light, and durable porcelain tile.
To keep the room looking as open as possible, the shower enclosure was created in ½” thick upgraded glass. The classic look of Kohler’s Devonshire shower fixtures in Polished Chrome finishes out this space. The color works perfectly with the grey tones in the tile pattern.
Rooms that are longer than they are wide are often lacking in storage space. The new Breeze cabinets by Woodharbor help solve the problem stylishly. By selecting a deeper-toned Java finish on their cherry wood vanity, the owners added just the right amount of contrast. It has an easy elegance when paired with the same grey HanStone Italian Waves Quartz that was used on the shower seating.
Other details of the new cabinets include Eastbrook style doors and slab drawers and Premium construction options. Atop the vanity, a Kohler Caxton Oval sink with a Devonshire faucet set in Polished Chrome maximizes countertop space and looks sharp.
Pulling it all together, the light tones of the floor tile keep the mood soothing. The homeowners’ choice was the same porcelain tile used in the shower: Eon Carrara Matte in a 12×24 size. This hallway bath is now transformed into a soothing oasis that’s packed with practical and stylish features!
