Upgrading kitchens isn’t always about what’s at waist level – like sinks and work areas. In this spotlight, you’ll see that looking up brought efficiency and a refined look to this space.
Although the room had great bones: big windows and an easy flow into adjacent rooms, it simply wasn’t making the most of its potential. Working with our team, the homeowners added custom cabinetry and other new features for a streamlined new style.
Previously, the microwave had been relegated to a cart that blocked the window and interrupted the work pattern of the kitchen. Existing wall-hung cabinetry wasted valuable storage space, and the refrigerator jutted out into the room, blocking traffic to and from the dining room. The existing built-in pantry had much more potential as a new custom cabinetry unit.
Woodharbor Breeze cabinets were a huge part of this update. J&J installed handsome new cabinets in a Walnut finish. These utilized every bit of the height available in the space, going up to the ceiling.
The homeowners selected a classic Belmond Door Style with Slab Drawer fronts for their new pieces, with a Cove style crown molding adding a lovely accent. Combined with custom interior lighting, these provide a secure, eye-catching spot for their display items.
The microwave was relocated to a more practical location above the stove. Working with the new color scheme and stainless appliances, our design team helped the homeowners select a stunning new tile for their backsplash. Bliss Cappuccino in their Linear Style is a warm mix, blending browns and cream-colored glass with creamy Travertine and Emperador dark marble.
On the counters, HanStone Serengeti Quartz is a practical choice with an elegant appearance. The light patterning picks up the warmth of the new wall paint: Benjamin Moore White Sand. It’s a soothing tone that will warm up any interior.
The kitchen gains much more presence and seems larger with the lengthening effects of the horizontally-oriented mosaic backsplash tiles. With loads of new storage, the homeowners gained counter space and a sense of spaciousness.
Across the kitchen, J&J installed additional cabinets in place of the old pantry. The refrigerator was relocated within the new custom-built pieces, eliminating the problem of its awkward placement.
Finishing touches for this remodel included a new Kohler McAllister Double Equal Undermount sink, with gleaming new Kohler Bellera kitchen sink faucet with pull-down 16-3/4″ spout and right-hand lever handle, DockNetik® magnetic docking system, and a 3-function spray head featuring Sweep® spray. These blend beautifully with the homeowner’s appliances.
On the floor, new luxury vinyl plank flooring: NuCore Performance in Founders Gunstock added waterproof, dent-resistant style with a natural wood look. Our team continued the installation of this fantastic look into the family room, powder room, hallway, and foyer.
