If you’re getting the itch to start some new home updates, you’re not alone! Major paint companies, designers, and trend-watchers know this, and roll out (see what we did there?) the hot new paint colors every January. Although some of the new colors are chic updates to classic hues, some may surprise you! Ready to get inspired? Let’s look at the top new paint colors for 2020!
Classic Blue for All!
Pantone Color Institute named Classic Blue as their Color of the Year. They’re known for their accuracy in predicting the color trends. It’s a neutral blue that will start showing up in all kinds of home decor – as classic and appealing as a pair of jeans.
To complement this color choice, interior wall paints are featuring some new blue hues, from a soft sky blue to richer shades that have a hint of teal. The Benjamin Moore shades above will set you up for success. Don’t be afraid of intense shades: they can be stunning on lower cabinets, or as an accent wall!
Green – With a Twist
Expect to see more greens as home decor becomes more colorful. Greens have been a classic for several years now, but some of the newer hues will evoke the wonderful colors of olive leaves and sage. The compatible range shown above ranges from an intense, earthy Cushing Green to a green-toned gray.
With the range of colors available in tiles, any of these paint shades have the potential for soothing and serene bathroom environments. We recently featured a master bath renovation that is right on trend with this look.
As seen above, these natural greens also work beautifully with warm terracotta tones, like those you’d see in pottery. What a great way to show off your collection of pots and plants! (And, by the way, orange is coming back as an accent color!)
Delicate Pastels
Creamy colors that look like morning light are something new for 2020! We think it’s refreshing to see a soft yellow back in the decorating magazines, and Benjamin Moore agrees. “Golden Straw” is shown above on the kitchen wall.
For anyone contemplating how to make your kitchen, bathroom, or sunroom feel brighter and more spacious, these shades are perfect. They’re subtle enough to work easily with other colors in your home, but they have a definite presence, and the potential to really change the atmosphere in your room. For a classic neutral, White Heron is a clean, cool milk-white that will complement any surface.
Let’s talk about the other paint color that you’ll be seeing more of. “First Light” is Benjamin Moore’s Color of the Year, and it’s a breath of fresh air.
It’s a soft wash of pink that changes with the angle of light. If you’re searching for the right shade of wall paint that will make everyone look fantastic, look no further! Perfect for bathrooms, completely fresh and unexpected in kitchens – it pops against greens, and provides a comforting presence paired with gray.
