Whether it’s a dream master bathroom renovation fit for the cover of a magazine, a small basement bathroom addition, or something in between, J&J Construction is here to help from inception to completion. The homeowners we work with consistently recommend J&J because our process and quality of design is next to none.
Recently a local family approached us with the idea of transforming their hall bathroom into a mini-master retreat. When children are small, a tub is needed for bathing. These bathrooms focus primarily on functionality. As children grow older and eventually leave the nest, possibilities are endless. By replacing their tub with a luxury walk-in shower, their adult children, or other friends and family, can utilize this “grown up” bathroom space and feel like they’re stepping into an upscale hotel. No more rubber duckies: time for streamlined elegance.
As you step into this spacious shower, you’ll notice ⅜-inch shower glass with brushed nickel trim. For shower plumbing, we’ve selected the Alteo series in brushed nickel from Kohler. This design choice compliments a variety of bathroom styles, and is as simple as it is sleek. The single handle control is easy to use, and the sprayface features an easy to clean surface that withstands mineral buildup. Remodels and renovations require many choices. Let our design experts guide you in selecting the right accessories for your bathroom.
The stunning shower floor consists of 2×2 tiles in Marbles Oniciata Grey. The walls are also from the Marbles family in Carrara White 12×24 tiles. Homeowners consistently want classic design with a modern touch. The Marbles family achieves that look through its timeless and brilliant marble appearance. It’s important to note also that this collection is comprised of 40% recycled materials, is locally sourced, and contains no VOCs, PVC or Formaldehyde commonly found in alternative flooring options.
A niche is necessary in every shower, and here we’ve selected a 12×28 sized niche in Bliss Midnight. Gorgeous. The color contrast used here adds visual interest and a bit of flair into an otherwise neutral space.
As beautiful as this walk-in shower presents, the vanity is going to be the focal point of any bathroom. This is where guests will spend the majority of their time at the sink, looking in the mirror, storing personal items, and getting ready. They’ll have plenty of storage offered in the Bertch cabinets in white semi-gloss with always-popular Osage doors. Hardware selected was a simple modern knob in brushed nickel to match all other finishes.
Hanstone Quartz countertops in Leaden gray house a Kohler rectangular white sink with vanity faucet from the Alteo series, matching the shower plumbing. The gray color countertop here is strong and rich, but there’s a subtlety to its texture that makes it accessible and works well with the bright whites found on the cabinets.
No bathroom renovation is complete without the finishing touches. These include an elongated highline toilet by Kohler, an LED vanity mirror to ensure the best all around task lighting, and wall accessories from the Alteo series in brushed nickel to coordinate with all plumbing fixtures. Look down and you’ll notice the main floor 12×24 tiles in Oniciata Gray by Marbles. While this isn’t an exact duplication of the shower wall tiles, it is from the same family and they blend together beautifully. Tying the room together are walls painted in Stonington Gray in a matte sheen.
Family’s needs change. Children grow up. Dynamics and family structures change, and it’s important to make your home work in the way that is ideal for your family. In many cases, a hall bathroom could very well become a modern retreat as you saw in this renovation. The footprint didn’t change, but the impact was huge.
