Maintenance Free Screened In Porch
A screened in porch offers the best of both worlds: outdoor living with indoor convenience. That’s why many of our clients come to us with the vision of renovating or adding a screened-in porch or three season room/sunroom. They’re multi-purpose: office space, entertainment space, play room, television and bar area-and so much more. A screened-in porch living space allows families to enjoy the fresh air sans bugs.
Our homeowners wanted their raised deck to transform to a screened in porch so that they could utilize it more often. The end result was a gorgeous, no-maintenance space complete with glass panels so that they could enjoy the lake view unobstructed. They can now enjoy family time without pesky mosquitos or debris, and pets can relax with a breeze safely in the screened-in porch as well.
This screened-in porch offers a completely maintenance free solution. Homeowners will never have to worry about painting, staining or worry about wooden deck boards rotting, splitting or fading. That’s thanks to the materials we’ve selected. Materials are so important when considering any renovation. It’s critical to look at where the space is located and how it will be used. We’ve selected TREX composite materials for the floor and railings, and AZEK composite materials for the ceiling and trim. Both are moisture, rot, and insect-resistant.
TREX is a high-performing deck option for homeowners who don’t want to worry about annual maintenance. It is a beautiful and incredibly durable product line that we love to work with for outdoor or 3-season room living. The flooring you see in this project here is in Winchester Gray, with complimentary white railings and black spindles. These colors are timeless and provide a neutral palette, allowing nature outdoors to take center stage.
The ceiling is from AZEK exteriors, also a durable composite material. AZEK is an industry leader in premium exterior building products, and their accents are lightweight, flexible, and engineered to make installation easy. Not only that, these products are built to last. Constant exposure to rain, moisture gathering at the roof line, and water pooling at the ground can lead to frequent re-painting or mold growth for porous trim products, but AZEK doesn’t absorb water like other trim products and is completely rot-resistant inside and out.
One unique feature to highlight from this particular project is the stunning glass panel. It was important to include this feature so that the beautiful lake view was not disrupted. There are three panels in the lower section of windows facing the lake. These windows have become a focal point for this space, allowing outdoors to truly blend with the indoors.
We’ve elevated the screened in porch which allows homeowners to utilize both floors of living space, adding additional overall square footage. If you have a beautiful view like this lake view, an elevated perspective really allows the view to take center stage. An elevated porch with a view? Check. Bug-free entertainment and relaxation space? Check. Satisfaction knowing they don’t need to keep up with maintenance? Check check.
